Fire Crackers at KB

Cultural events at Knightsbridge ITPL Road, Bangalore.

Twenty days before when we were discussing about the party, it looked like that the idea would be dropped. There were number of reasons, everybody thought 1500 per family will be too high. Then an idea floated that if every family ends up celebrating on their own they will definitely spend more than 1500. So we decided to give it a shot. Then there was fear that people might expect higher or might complain about food etc. So we separated the cost of food from the fixed cost of the event.
Then there was fear, what if it rained. Whether department predicted that it will rain and at least I had no fear ;-) since our whether department is never right. So it cannot rain.
Varun, Saumitra, Parag, Anand, Nishit and Gaj volunteered to share responsibility in their respective areas.
I prepared a formal Notice because we were missing some tenants on the mailing list, which was immediately converted into an informal poster by Sumita and that triggered Gaj and Nishit’s imagination and he came up with a formal Poster after putting in tens of man hours.
It is amazing to see how some people volunteer to give professional touch at everything they do.
Soon it was discovered that some families might drop silently after looking at the cost. So the process of cost cutting started. This included bargaining with vendors and reducing the scale of lighting and shamiana. Anand jumped in and volunteered as DJ and we saved a straight 10000 rupees and got the personalized version of music as well. Three cheers for Anand. Deal with the firecrackers team went well and we saved 8000 from our budgets. Moreover participation went up from a mere 30 families to 65 and hence cost per family was chopped down to 1000 rupees. Aparna and her team started rehearsing for the stage event. And we have confirmed reports of rehearsals pushing some of the men to work instead of working from home.
And finally the evening came and along with it came some dark clouds and strong winds. At one point in the evening it seemed that rain is going to be a spoilsport. But I was confident on our whether man (that he cannot be right) and believed that it will not rain. Although Anand insisted to stay out and close to stage, but he along with his laptop was soon pushed inside by the threat of rains.
During the preparation Varun, Gaj and myself could be seen carrying stone wedges to cover uneven ground in front of the clubhouse. Everybody was worried about the stage being properly set, so that everybody performing is safe.
And finally the time for performances came. In the words of coordinator, “Weren’t they great?” Let me answer, yes they were great and everybody was pleased to see different performances. Well done Aparna and her team. Don’t go out of practice because New Year is just round the corner.
Fireworks and more fireworks and dhoom and bhoom made Diwali at Knightsbridge, ITPL road, Bangalore a memorable event.

Among the bhoom bhoom of diwali crackers, we could see the KB building brightly decorated with lights. The lights appeared like a Sehra on a young Grooms face.

I always believed we have a very enthusiastic gang at KB. After yesterdays Diwali party the belief is proven. Gaj's intellect is already visible in our KARMA logo. We discovered a brilliant DJ(Anand). This DJ rolls music and yes he can convert the foot tapping crowd to a Dancing Crowd. We discovered people like Varun, who take responsibility and then live up to it. We discovered a cash manager in Nishit. And yes special thanks to our team leads Saumitra and Parag.
I addition, we discovered some dancing and singing talents including solo performances.
